The specialist bell design process
Dr Anton Hasell has combined his creative artistic skills with an understanding of ‘how humans hear’ and the essential elements of metallurgy to create unique bells of many sizes.
Anton will briefly outline human hearing and perception as it applies to tone-generation instruments. In particular, he will outline his pioneering mastery of ‘difference tone’ bell design in the world today and the benefit this provides for all bells, large and small.
Anton will then explain his specialist bell design process from concept through shape design, tooling and casting to tuning the final product. He will outline examples of his installations around the World.
The presentation will include physical, ‘hands-on’ examples as demonstrations of his craft.
