On Monday 20th June the AES Melbourne Section finally returned to our old meeting haunt of the SAE Institute lecture theatre, where we welcomed Vastigo’s Joe Hayes to demonstrate his DaS (Diffusion at Source) AuReality loudspeakers.
In October last year, Joe introduced us to his concept of the DaS loudspeaker algorithm which provides a listening experience unshackled from the room’s acoustics and free of sweet-spot limitations. A full report on that presentation can be found at https://www.aesmelbourne.org.au/mtg-rpt-oct2021/
This time around, Joe gave us the opportunity to hear the results of his work.

Our Section AGM is planned for Mon 8th August 2022 at 7:30pm It will be an online (Zoom) session where we will report to the membership on Section activities and hold an election of Officers and Committee. If you wish to serve on the Committee please contact us here
Following the AGM, the developer of the powerful Room Eq Wizard software, John Mulcahy will present to us on its development, applications and future directions.

Merlijn Van Veen, Chair of the AES Standards Task Group SC-04-03-A and Senior Technical Support & Education Specialist at Meyer Sound will present on the topic of:
AES75: AES standard for acoustics Measuring loudspeaker maximum linear sound levels using noise
Merlijn will briefly explore the background and impetus for this project. The AES Standards procedure will be explained and demonstrated, including challenges faced by the SC-04-03-A Task Group and how the Group’s activities have inspired development within other standard bodies. The session will close with a description of the remaining development steps.
