The next meeting of the AES Melbourne Section will be an in-person event to be held on Monday 19^th June 2023 at 7:30pm at the ABC Southbank radio studios.

After a brief tour of the ABC Radio studios, Alex will give us a presentation covering his work and career. Topics covered will include

Recording acoustic music from solo instruments to large orchestras
Microphone & mixing techniques
Logistics of running orchestral sessions & recording on location
Post-production techniques
Recording for immersive formats

On Monday 8^th August, the Melbourne Section of the AES held our regular bi-monthly meeting, which was preceded by our Annual General Meeting.

We welcomed about 60 members and guests via Zoom.

Following the AGM (see separate report at https://www.aesmelbourne.org.au/2022-agm/), Chairman Graeme Huon introduced John Mulcahy, the developer of the Room EQ Wizard (REW) software package.

Meeting Report: June 2022 – DaS AuReality demonstration

On Monday 20^th June the AES Melbourne Section finally returned to our old meeting haunt of the SAE Institute lecture theatre, where we welcomed Vastigo’s Joe Hayes to demonstrate his DaS (Diffusion at Source) AuReality loudspeakers.

In October last year, Joe introduced us to his concept of the DaS loudspeaker algorithm which provides a listening experience unshackled from the room’s acoustics and free of sweet-spot limitations. A full report on that presentation can be found at https://www.aesmelbourne.org.au/mtg-rpt-oct2021/

This time around, Joe gave us the opportunity to hear the results of his work.

It will be an online (Zoom) session where we will report to the membership on Section activities and hold an election of Officers and Committee.
