Meeting Notice: June 2019

The next meeting of the AES Melbourne Section will be on Monday 3rd June.

It will be a visit to the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) where Byron Scullin will give a talk on:

The Establishment of MESS
&
The History of Electronic Music in Melbourne

(Bookings required – see below)

Byron will describe the establishment of MESS and its collection. He will also discuss the particular histories of key machines in the collection, as well as answer any questions you may have.

April 2019 Meeting Report: Active Acoustic Enhancement and Spatial Audio

Twenty one members and guests gathered in the Yamaha Premium Piano Centre (YPPC) in South Melbourne to hear Simon Tait explain the Yamaha AFC3 Active Field Control system and its use in acoustic enhancement and spatial audio applications.

Simon had recently installed an AFC3 system at this location and he was pleased to describe and demonstrate its features.

Preliminary June Meeting Notice

The next meeting is scheduled for June 3rd.

It is planned to be a visit to the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) in North Melbourne – a not-for-profit organization that curates a unique collection of electronic instruments.

Modern venues increasingly utilise Active Acoustic Enhancement (AAE) to expand the range of performances and events that can be hosted in their facilities. For performers and audiences alike this means a more natural environment befitting the program material and for venue owners this can equate to greater returns through increased bookings. Spatial Audio (SA) systems often exist alongside AAE systems due to the common hardware they utilise.
