The Annual General Meeting of the Melbourne Section of the AES will be held on

Speaker Design using Parametric Acoustic Modelling
With the number of loudspeaker manufacturers in the marketplace today you would be forgiven for thinking it is an evolving black art.
For the August AES Melbourne meeting, Graeme will take you on a quick trip through the history of speaking loudly and the evolution of the modern loudspeaker, hopefully adding some science and dispelling some myths. In particular, work done with Parametric Acoustic Modelling (PAM) to expand upon and extend Neville Thiele and Dick Small’s work will be outlined and a picture of the future painted.
About Graeme Huon:
Graeme first worked in telecommunications Operations, becoming Telstra’s National Systems architect, then Siemens Telecommunications as regional business development manager.
He has since run and sold his own start-up companies and provided technical and business consultancy in the telecommunications, software development and audio-acoustics fields, principally commercialising new technology developments.
Graeme’s work on wave analysis and modelling in particular has received world recognition as providing significant advances in fields of application as diverse as audio, acoustics, sonar, ultrasound and even physiology and sub-sonic engine aspiration!
He has worked on the Federal Advisory Committee for Intellectual Property and was instrumental in establishing the concept of the Australian Patents Tribunal as an alternate path to that of the high Court for patent disputes.
Graeme holds Australian US and world patents in multiple fields and has received the Australian Pearcey award for innovation.
He has a bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Monash University, the Diploma of Education from Rusden teachers college and has completed the UC Berkeley HAAS venture capital program.
Graeme has served on the AES Melbourne Section’s Committee since its reactivation in 2009, including lengthy stints as Chairman and Vice-Chair. He is currently Chairman of the Section.
